Psychology

Research indicates that psychological and behavioral disorders adversely affect physical health. It is said that 70% of people visiting medical clinics do not have a physical illness or what they have is linked to a prior psychological condition.

There is a direct relationship between the health status of a population and its productivity. Psychological mental and behavioral disorders have an economic impact on this nation with decreased productivity at work in form of abseentism, sick leave, and decreased productivity There is a growing number of human resources wasted every year through preventable conditions such as alcoholism, domestic violence, suicide community violence and even conflict. Besides prevention the major role of psychologists is mental health diagnosis and treatment.

The Outspan Medical College has a fully established Department engaged with training clinical psychologists to address this situation. The psychology department aims at minimizing the recurrence or at the very least manage the recurring symptoms more effectively in the future.

The department is manned by experienced and highly qualified psychologists. We train Clinical psychologists, Counseling psychologists and Chemical dependence (Addictions) Counselors at a diploma level. Several institutions in the country are offering a PhD in clinical psychology.
