Outspan Hospital Cares, the message for the Diabetes, Hypertension
and Other Heart Diseases Open Day
The CSR department successfully conducted the Diabetes, Hypertension and Other Heart Diseases Open Day on the 18th of March 2023. The Hospital attended to 391 clients at the Open Day. Those in attendance were able to benefit from health talks on; how to prevent and manage diabetes, mental health, benefits of exercise and proper nutrition; all of which are critical to maintaining good health. The Executive Director, Dr. Godfrey Kiruhi, highlighted Outspan Hospital’s mandate to reach out to the community, and the need to create an impact within our environs. He emphasized that the hospital’s CSR activities and facilities should be of benefit to the Nyeri community first, before they are of benefit to others. He welcomed and appreciated all those in attendance and reassured them that the Open Day was an effort to extend the Outspan Care to them.
This was also echoed by the Principal, Madam Lydia Githinji, who also encouraged those in attendance to interact with the college, as opportunities for study were available for students who are interested. She highlighted that financial aid through the Needy Students Program would give first priority to residents of Nyeri County. The success of the Open Day was a team effort and saw different departments within the hospital coming together to ensure the event ran smoothly. This team effort is in line with the Outspan Teaching and Referral Hospital’s values, and the CSR chairperson, Veronica Mwangi appreciated the staff member’s contribution and participation at the Open Day.
